Spring 2007

We had a few people drop in for lunch on Easter Sunday ..... Tricia was in town so we had her kids over as well as the kids who were here at BYU and didn't go home. It was fun to get together and see everyone.

For Jessie's 20th birthday I decided to surprise her with a leopard print bowling ball. She's quite the bowler after taking a couple of classes in high school and at BYU. Needless to say she was more than surprised and loved it!

Tricia and I went on our first trip as the 2 traveling grandma's to Paris, France. First up was the cathedral at Notre Dame.

This day we started out the day with a great shopping excursion for the majority of the day. Then we decided that since we were in Paris we may as well see some of the sites. We went to the Eiffel Tower and of course Tricia wanted to go all the way to the top, so we did. It took us 3 hours to get up and back but it was worth the time. The first picture was taken at the very top after we made it and the second one was after our little adventure.

Just after this picture as we were walking I stepped funny and tore my messial meniscus. We hobbled back to the hotel stopping for dinner on the way and unfortunately that was the end of my trip. I had to go home and ultimately had to have knee surgery to get everything fixed. The trip was fun while it lasted and I'm hoping it won't be last one for the 2 traveling grandma's!

Fall and Christmas 2006

Here are some more fun pictures from the Fall of 2006 and Christmas.

Grandma and Grandpa Moffat with Aunt Melba and Uncle Lloyd Hatch from Seattle. Aunt Melba is Grandpa's little sister. Uncle Lloyd retired from dentistry 2 months later at the age of 80 after 45+ years. Less than 6 months later Uncle Lloyd passed away unexpectedly (May 2007).

We went to see Abbie and Josh in Glendale Arizona the end of October. Josh is attending school at Midwestern University there and had just started. This was my first trip to Phoenix (or even this far south with the exception of San Diego).

Next up (mid November) we took a trip to Chapel Hill that happened to coordinate with a work trip for Steve. Since we were there the week before Thanksgiving we had an early Thanksgiving dinner with Jason, Heather and the girls. Madelin and I made turkeys out of oranges and feathers for the place settings which I will never forget. This is a picture of the UNC Dental/Ortho school where Jason is going.

Taylor surprised me by stopping by for a couple of days on his way to California for the holiday. Everyone knew he was coming except for me and I was stunned that they could keep such a good secret. He was here for 5 days and we loved seeing him.

While he was here I got to give him a haircut - something I hadn't done since he was 12-13 years old!

The traditional Christmas bowling. We went to dinner at Bonsai and then had an eventful time bowling at Olympus Hills. We can't quite remember who won but we do remember all the laughs.

Fall of 2006 / Trip to Philadelphia and New York

Before heading off to Philadelphia and New York Les and Sandra Spragg came to visit. They were here from Wales for 2 weeks around Conference Time. It was fun to meet them.

I took this picture of Grandma and Grandpa with the Spragg's for Richard who is currently serving in England.

Our first trip to Taylor and Amber's. We were so excited to see them and their house in Philadelphia along with Drexel.

This is Drexel University, Taylor's school where he spends 12-15 hours each day studying and going to classes.

One afternoon we drove up to Chestnut Hills which is a nice part of town. They were having an art exhibit of some kind and we weren't quite sure how this monkey was considered fine art.

McKay Coming Home / Summer 2006

McKay came home from his mission to Korea on Saturday, July 1st. Jason, Heather and the girls as well as Taylor and Amber coordinated their visits to Utah for the summer so they could see McKay right as he got home.

We decided to make a "Welcome Home" poster for McKay so he wouldn't miss all of us at the airport. Madelin and Halle we excited to help and as you can see they were more than willing to get their hands and feet painted on to leave their mark.

On July 24th we all went up to Snowbird for the day and enjoyed the Zip Line, Alpine Slide and other fun. We took turns racing eachother down the Alpine Slide and here Josh is ready to go.

That night we went to the Bees game to watch the fireworks - we've done this the past several years.

Trip to France May 2006

From England to France we took the Chunnel where our first stop was Paris. Jason took us all to the Eiffel Tower before we could even get any shopping in. The Eiffel Tower is my absolute favorite site in Paris - it's breathtaking!!

It was a beautiful day but due to a wind advisory we could only go to the second level.

Driving through the Loire Valley this was a typical countryside home.

Mt. Saint Michael ... this is Steve's most favorite landmark from his time in France as a missionary. One P-day he and the other elders he was serving with rode their bikes 60 miles to see this monestary and he was very excited to see it again.

Our last Sunday in France we spent in LeHavre, Steve's first area from his mission. We found the old missionary flat and church and then found the current chapel. When Steve saw a real chapel with a strong branch he was stunned. We went to all 3 hours of church and I didn't understand a single word of it. Frer Destrobrow (sp?) was an investigator Steve taught while serving there 32 years ago and was so excited that "Elder Pollei" came back to visit. He is now the Gospel Doctrine teacher but has also served as the Branch President among other callings. He married in the temple and all of his children are active in the gospel today. By the way, we have no idea who this nice gentleman in the picture is but he helped us know we were in the right place.

Trip to England/Wales May 2006

In May of 2006 for Jason's dental school graduation Steve and I took Jason and Heather to England/Wales and France for a fun trip. We were able to visit some of the areas that Jason served in on his mission in England and then we went to Paris and northern France where Steve served 30+ years earlier. It was a memorable trip that Steve and I had looked forward to for years.

We arrived in London and found this phone booth our first day. We thought this would be a fun picture and couldn't resist the urge to act like true tourists.

Next up was the Tower Bridge which was next to the Jewel House.

That night we took the train from London to Lingfield where the London Temple is located. We were all able to go on a session that evening which looking back may not have been the best idea because we were all exhausted from traveling all day.

We finally arrived in Wales!! Visiting Chepstow, Cardiff, Ponty, Swansea.

While in Wales we visited Mark and Meg Mountford in Aberystwyth. Jason met Mark, Meg and their family while on his mission and Steve and I were excited to finally meet them.

Summer 2005

These are some of my favorite pictures from the summer of 2005 when Jason, Heather and the girls came for a visit.

Grandpa and Madelin going for a scooter ride around the neighborhood. She couldn't wait to go for a ride with grandpa when she got to Utah it was one of the first things she did.

We all went to Gateway for the afternoon and had a great time in the water fountain. I think that Jason ended up being the wettest one of the bunch at the end. Madelin spent most of the time in the shade eating string cheese while Halle was fearless and got out there as fast as she could.

This was from a visit to Greatgrandpa and Greatgrandma Moffat's. Greatgrandpa was 85 and Madelin was 3.

On one of the visits to the girls in Chapel Hill grandma had plenty of chances to snuggle with the girls.
